Yahoo and Microsoft get search deal OK

Both the US Department of Justice and the European Commission have said there are no issues to prevent Microsoft and Yahoo going ahead with their search deal.

The 10-year deal makes Yahoo the salesforce and Microsoft the search platform for their combined search. The deal was announced in July 2009 and is expected to start being implemented in the next few days. All global customers and partners are expected to have been moved to the combined system by early 2012.

The deal is aimed at taking market share and revenues from Google, which currently has around 75 percent of the market worldwide.
